First Nation's Histories: offers brief histories


Chumash Interpretive Center enhances the public's awareness and understanding of the Chumash People of Southern California.

Malki Museum on the Morongo Reservation is California's first Native run museum and shares the culture of the Cahuilla people.



The Anasazi Heritage Center is a museum of Anasazi culture.  and features many resources for educators.

Koshare Indian Museum in LaJunta preserves and interprets the Southwest and Plains tribal art and artifacts to provide an educational experience.  The Koshare are not a tribe, but part of Pueblo society.



The Peoples Center Museum of the Confederated Salish, Kootenai and Pend d'Orielle Tribal Nations offers a museum gallery of the history of the nations.

New York

Akwesasne Cultural Center works to preserve the culture of the Mohawk people.

Iroquois Indian Museum at Howes Cavern offers educational programs and exhibits about the Iroquois Nations.

Kanehsastake Cultural Centre is actually in Quebec, but is part of the effort to preserve the Mohawk Culture

Kanienkehaka Raotitiohkwa Cultural Center in Quebec is another group preserving the Mohawk culture.

Noteworthy Indian Museum in Amsterdam exhibits Native American artifacts found in the Mohawk Valley of Central New York

Oneida Nation Museum is one of the older museums in the nation and works to preserve the heritage of the Onieda Nation.

Ronathahonni Cultural Center is an educational and resource center dedicated to teaching about the Haudenosaunee people

Seneca-Iroquois National Museum in Salamance offers a view of the Seneca Nation's culture

Shako:wi Cultural Center of the Oneida Nation offers exhibits portraying the culture of the Oneida people

Six Nations Museum in Onchiota shares the culture of the Haudenosaunee people.

Woodland Cultural Centre in Ontario is devoted to preserving the culture of the Iroquois Nations.

Museum of the Cherokee Indian offers events and educational opportunities to learn about the Cherokee Indian.

Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee gives a glimpse of Native American life and the rich heritage, traditions and crafts of the Cherokee.


Sellars Farm Archaeological Park and Interpretive Center is a Middle Cumberland Mississippian Mound/Village site.
